Lucid Fly - (Set time: 9:50 PM)
Lucid Fly
Lucid Fly was born following a chain of events happening on September 26, 1996. It was the day astronaut Shannon Lucid stepped out of the U.S. space shuttle Atlantis. Lucid was trapped in her space station and unable to return to earth because of a hurricane; in doing so she set the record for the longest stay in space by any U.S. astronaut and by any woman in the world! The newspaper headline read: "Lucid Flies into the record book!" The lead singer of Lucid Fly, (Nikki) was talking with a friend of hers who read the headline out loud. It struck a chord with her and the other members of Lucid Fly. At that time, they were one of the few heavier alternative/rock bands fronted by a female vocalist. It was a time of exploration and discovery; they felt a connection to Shannon Lucid and pioneered the name Lucid Fly!

In the midst of chaos we often find out what we are made of, and some of us, the lucky ones, awake enough to recognize our purpose. Lead singer Nikki and guitarist Doug met in 1998, through a musician want ad in a Florida magazine. The chemistry was instant. For the next several years, they jammed with various musicians, recorded their first EP, and played around the southeast, including SXSW in Austin in 2006. In 2007, they moved to L.A. where they found a drummer (Aaron) and bassist (Go) that met their kind of energy and chemistry. After writing together for over a year, 5 songs were picked to record their new EP the escape stage.

The new EP resonates with an addictive arrangement of charmingly mysterious songs and melodies. The meaning of the escape stage literally is that moment when an object (usually a rocket) breaks free from the earth's gravitational pull and enters a free fall in space. It takes so much energy to get to that point, but once in space, it's virtually effortless to move around. The songs on the EP gracefully explore our core emotions, allowing us to freely surrender to our deepest unconsciousness.

At some point, we all stand alone and ask ourselves: "what is my purpose and why am I here?" We go through life waiting on a lucid moment to conquer the fear we are challenged by and breathe purpose into our being. So many of us are waiting to take chances, waiting to be driven, and searching for whatever can fill our unexplainable voids. Every human being has a purpose, a passion. In the end, we ultimately choose the destiny that destroys us or saves us; we set ourselves up for defeat or we break free and make plans for our own "escape stage."
Inverta - (Set time: 8:55 PM)
Inverta
"INVERTA clearly knows how to make good music that has the loud, “face-melting” instruments all other hard rock bands wish they could capture."

- Sylvie Lesas, Evigshed Magazine

"INVERTA, Unraveling the fabric of a band. A new group of musicians is going viral in search of members. Leading the trend, Los Angeles-based INVERTA is seeking a lead singer, and they are using all means possible to get one."
- Performer Magazine

The web of sound that is created when a group of musicians come together, is an ecological connection between each member, overlapping and warping in on itself to create something larger than the sum of its parts. There's a thread weaving itself through the music, connecting from one end to the other, across the silent gaps that separate.

Los Angeles band INVERTA is striving to understand and foster the growth of this thread. Their sound can be described as semi-noir, melodically-charged, and multi-layered; a fusion of hard rock and progressive/alternative metal. The band puts emphasis on their attempt to write conceptual songs by arranging subtly-deep melodic overtones placed within polyrhythmic odd time signatures. These songs create a cinematic scope easily grasped by any listener, also appealing to listeners that strive to be challenged by music. Parts of songs sit comfortably in the pocket, while others build tension, exploding into anthemic choruses. Dynamic verses harness any aggression that was created previously and descend into spatial grooves and textural drones. The band's goal is to produce album-oriented songs that take their audience on a thematic journey to places in and out of harm's way.

Many of the world's technically proficient bands place an indelible mark on the members of INVERTA. Each band member explores within their musical range and influences, engaging the notion that form emerges between struggle and resistance. Their work is a satisfaction for the appetites of hard or progressive rock fans that appreciate musicality and musicianship, but the band also prides itself on its ability to write a strong chorus that fuses the audience and the band into one cohesive unit. Their devotion is strengthened by a driving force, striving for progression and accomplishment.

Nature By Numbers
Nature By Numbers
nature 8y numbers is a southern-california based progressive rock band formed in 2010. long time friends and collaborators, guitarist garret bever and bassist chris golen and newfound music soulmate, drummer john hoik, began writing music. unbeknownst to them, this music would soon become the foundation for a project that would prove to be their most ambitious. they created a brand of rock with substance and dynamic while pushing the boundaries and limitations of rhythm and structure.

soon thereafter, experienced guitarist joel martinez came to the group, adding ethereal tones and exotic chordal voicings. this wasn't to be a rock band directed toward super-stardom and monetary gain, it was to be a collective centered around solid musicianship and encouraging personal creativity. for several months the foursome worked tirelessly to redefine and craft their sound, while searching for a unique, talented vocalist: one who could add a spirit to the soaring twists and wrenching, explosive movement of the music. the band held several rounds of vocal tryouts with limited success. there were many talented singers, but none who quite fit the expectations and hopes of the whole group. they then contacted an experienced local vocalist named thomas golden, who was conveniently available to work with a new project. the collaboration was extremely successful, and the band began to create as a cohesive unit.

nature 8y numbers strives to continue to stay true to their unique path, unwavered by the pop trends and musical stigmas plaguing the music industry, with the goal of achieving something new and exciting. this is where their story truly begins...
